Open day at Macclesfield College
Hundreds of people descended on the College on Thursday 20th October for our first Open Evening of the year.
Over 400 visitors took full advantage of the opportunity to tour the modern campus and discover the extensive range of courses on offer.
Prospective students were able to chat to Faculty experts too, finding out about course content, placement opportunities, apprenticeships and the college’s great relationships with industry.
Open Evening attendees also had the chance to get ‘hands-on’ while exploring a variety of subject areas, giving them a real taste of the brilliant learning opportunities available at the college.
For example there were demonstrations in the college’s Silk Room Restaurant for those looking to get into Cookery and Hospitality and Muse, which is the college’s specialist visual and performing arts centre, played host to a variety of performances by Music/Performing Arts students which brought a real sense of drama and entertainment to proceedings.
Those in attendance got a feel for the college’s ethos of Empowerment through learning too as they learned about the unrivalled levels of student support offered by the Student Services team; they’re always on hand throughout the year to offer guidance and advice for anyone who needs it.
Rachel Kay, Principal and CEO at Macclesfield College, was delighted with how the event went.
“What a fantastic start to our series of Open Events. Our open events are not only a chance for young people to take a look around the College, but also a chance to discover our fantastic tutors, who bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure our students have everything they need to succeed in their career.
“It was great to see so many people enjoying their time at the College and I am really looking forward to our next Open Evening.”
One attendee who visited the Muse centre was full of praise commenting: “Thank you for showing me and my parents around on Thursday – you explained everything very well and I really like the way you have set up the course – it suits my method of learning and I love it!”
If you were unable to attend October’s Open Evening don’t worry, the College is holding another on Tuesday 15th November from 5pm-8pm, so make sure the date is in your diary!
